This is not too recent, but I only just found out! Roger Watkins was a cool fucking director who made the low-budget masterpiece "Last House On Dead End Street" - one of my all-time favourite movies!!! He went on to make some pornos, and apparently was in negotiations to make a sequel to Last House when, at 58 years of age, he died of "heart failure". Damn! www.papermag.com/blogs/2007/04/rip_roger_watkins.php

No, it is a terrible movie. That is why I bothered to post this post. Because I hate this movie, and I totally disrespect this director who has died.
I would much rather watch "Happy Feet" or "I Am Legend" or "The Golden Compass"....
HOORAH! HOORAH!
THREE CHEERS FOR HOLLYWOOD!

NOOOOOOoooooooooooo!!!
Ha ha no "Last House On Dead End Street" is a real cool movie, shot on zero budget through mid-70s by Roger, then in film college I think? He plays the lead role, this bad-ass psychotic punk-type character, who has just got out of jail on drugs charges and sets about making snuff movies to get back at society, peddling them off to these rich yuppie types who hold weird ritualistic orgies.
If you're interested in filmmaking at all, you'll find this film inspirational, for the very reason that it was done on zero funds (Roger says he spent $300 on it at the time, but that was for crystal meth he was taking all the way through the movie ha ha). It is very good cinematography & editing, a well-crafted piece of art.

Well it's on DVD, a nice double-disk set with Last House on one & all his earlier short films on the other, plus interviews & stuff. The director's commentary on Last House is classic fun, one of those commentaries that are well-worth sitting all the way through.
Maybe you could find a torrent somewhere?
